hi, i've encountered a bug. i picked up the piercing powerup just before finishing the stage i was on, and when i went onto the next stage i was able to keep the powerup permanently. the little timer bar on the side didn't show up and the powerup didn't run out. a few stages later the game crashed as it was trying to load the next stage

(1 edit)

hello, thank you very much for the detailed bug report. :) i will do my best to fix it. are you on version 0.8.2?

(+1)

yes i am

(+1)

this bug has been fixed. :) thank you again.

How do I join your team? I want to join your team.

(+2)

The game is sooo much fun! Btw I would really like to see minibosses every 10-15 stages. Keep up with this little gem!

(+1)

Incredible game! I love how you simulate the CRT arcade glow around the sprites... beautiful touch. I'm curious to see your other work!

(+1)

personally i call it the "astigmatism shader" 🤓 i'm glad you liked it :)

(+1)

only took my half an hour to find out how to shoot

(+1)

very fun!

(+1)

I really like the look! great game. Which program did you use to create the graphics/sprites/animations?

hi there :) i use aseprite. i adore that program so. piskel is a free alternative i also like.

Pretty neat game, feels fair for the most part. Something that I think would make the game feel better is if power-ups did not instantly activate, but rather allowed you to activate them later by pressing, say shift on keyboard or a trigger on controller.

Is there an ETA on the update with key rebinding?
I purchased the game and have been waiting for the update
to really get down into it. Thanks!

(+1)

hi :) thank you for your patience. the update is still cooking, but should be out next week. it's got good stuff in it!

Awesome! Thanks! 8)

Awesome game, thank you! And it looks like even the ZX Spectrum Next (a beefed-up version of the classic British computer) community has noticed it: https://www.facebook.com/groups/specnext/permalink/1412682115755771/ People in the comments there started even wondering what would it take to port satryn to this retro computer...

Well, there are some interesting efforts to bring indie games to retro hardware, check out for instance Limbo for Commodore 64 or Cave Story for Sega Genesis. A floppy or cartridge with satryn could really look interesting on a shelf. :)

(+1)

that's so cool! i never owned a zx spectrum myself, but i did play a java port of jet set willy growing up, which was quite a formative game for me. i am enamored with the graphical limitations of the machine, and thus hoped to capture that feeling for the art in this lil game. :) if someone does want to port it, they have my blessing. (because i'm sure not going to do it!) :p

I don't know what it is about this game that despite its simple yet charming graphics, it's a vice that you can't tear yourself away from.

Having trouble playing this through Wine on my Mac. It won't load at all, not even the title screen. Any ideas? Normally I can run Windows programs no problem. Would love to play this :(

this looks amazing!
would you please tell me how exactly you created the blood of the enemies?

(+1)

This is a really good game! The controlls are pretty tight and responsive. It's a little hard, but whenever I lose, it feels like it's my fault, and that keeps me playing!

One thing I will though, the spikes kinda look like power ups, so I have died numerous times by walking into them, so maybe that could use some work, but still, great game!

I'm a (relatively new) composer, and I was wondering if I could offer my services. I could make a few songs  (maybe 2-4 songs with your direction of course) free of charge, even if they're just placeholders for when you get a better composer

I really like this game and I want to lend some help, Unless you already have a composer of course.

If you're interested, lemme know so you can see if my approach to music is something that could benefit the game

(+1)

Very fun game, with simple, appealing graphics! I'm quite a fan of Robotron 2084 and found this to be a great expansion on Robotron's formula. Linux version works great! Well done!

(+2)

played once and was loving it immediately, cant wait for the music update ;)

(+2)(-1)

nice

(+5)

Great execution, VERY polished, much love for the visual aesthetic from the palette to character design to visual fx to level transitions! I never tire of twin-stick action, you have a winner on your hands with this game.

Enhancement requests:

* Really like the parallax of the frame surrounding the gameplay area.... want more than one frame theme

* More stereo please!  Would love to hear the player character sound fx to pan left/right depending on where the player character is onscreen

Crash Report.

Machine: GPDWin2 running win10 and intentionally underclocked to 70%.  Crashed after selecting AGAIN after scoring 250,000 or so points on the first game of the session.  I.E. crashed while starting 2nd game of session, the exact point was the level monsters manifesting into being.

Sorry there's not more to report, can't replicate it.

thank you very much. i am aware of this crash. i haven't been able to replicate it myself yet :( i will do my best.

Great game, it isn't exactly innovative or anything like that. But it has solid fun gameplay, very simple and is very fun to play. The artstyle and vfx are top notch. And it has a lot of charm and is incredibly fun on repeat plays. Great risk/reward system w the friends. And the enemies are varied and create lots of different situations. This is like doom level simple, but functional enemies.

Felt like a gms game, but its godot which is great too. Good stuff m8.

Though i think it should be worth testing 360* aiming w controller. To see if it fits or not.

I love that people can tell the difference between GMS2 and Godot

Love the gameplay and the art style, cant wait for the music :D. If you need help actually with any audio (sfx or music) I'd love to join if you need that help. Keep up the good work!

Geometry Wars: Satryn

(+3)(-2)

Fun game. 2 things I would change:

- Automatically award the player the leftover friends at the end of a round. It would feel good since you already have to keep them alive anyways so the challenge is still there. (this is one of those things where nobody would complain if it was there but there are people like me who will complain that it's not.)

- A rapid fire bullet type would feel incredible. For me, the upgrades were a little underwhelming. They sounded incredible, but gameplay wise they felt a tad underpowered considering you hardly get them and they're limited to that short round.

Other than that, amazing. Had a ton of fun. 4/5

(+1)

hi there. these are both fantastic suggestions. i have added both of these in the update today. i hope the rapid fire bullet is to your liking :)

(+1)

Incredible. I saw the update on Twitter, thanks for reminding me to try it again. Love the changes. Great job :)

(1 edit) (+3)

Great game, look and feel matches gameplay, didn't notice any bugs.
Some ideas:
1. power-ups should stay between levels until they are depleted or you die.
2. add a power-up to slow time for the enemies but not yourself in later levels.
3. Add a remote server/cloud based high-score table where you can enter your name and compare it to other real players.
4. More incentives to save your friends , maybe an extra life after collecting a few of them? didn't notice if this was already the case.

(1 edit) (+3)

You get an extra life every 25 friends

hi there. i addressed point 1 in the new update :) i love your item suggestion, too! it's on my list. the global leaderboard is also my #1 priority right now. thanks for the feedback ✌

(+1)

This looks so cool! Any plans to release a Mac build in the future?

(+1)

AMAZIN

(+2)

Just came back to say that I still vibe with everything about this.

(+3)

this would be stinking great on an arcade cabinet. almost too good. i could see this being the coin cruncher i keep coming back to.

(+1)

This is really  a good game , amazing =)

(+2)

this is super juicy and really fun!! fantastic job :D

(+2)

(+2)

(+1)(-1)

(+2)

omggg i want to do it in gamemaker ! :00000

(+4)

(+3)(-1)

Made a video

Great job! And it runs great on Linux too

Excellent arcade twin stick shooter in vein of Robotron but more fun imho! Great job! And it runs great on Linux too! 8)
Just made a donation. Others should as well!

P.S. - An option to rebind keys is needed as my keyboard
can not fire up/left diagonally and move. Some key combos
don't work on all keyboards so it would be nice to be able
to experiment with different bindings. I realize dual analog
is the way to go and will be playing with D/A most of the
time but sometimes I want a quickie on my laptop, plus all
games should have the ability to rebind the keys imho.

ALSO - It is possible if you code a key reading routine
that hits the hardware more directly, the issue may go away.

(+1)

sorry to hear about that inconvenience. key rebinding will be coming in 0.8.2 :)

Awesome game. I'm curious, how did you accomplish the blood splatter effects?

I'm so bad at this game, and I wish power-ups appeared a bit more often and earlier, but I absolutely LOVE the aesthetic, how it feels, how it looks, how it sounds!

(1 edit)

This is a really well made game! It has all the elements throwing back to those old Hi-Score Chasing arcade cabinets. The enemies are forever coming and power-ups bring life back into the run as you are looking to get overrun by the cute baddies.

Definitely worth a play at FREE. Definitely a candidate for a $5-$10 Steam game(with some more enemies, stage progression, music and powerups).

Thanks for the game!

(+4)

false advertising, enemies are cuddly

(+1)

really fun game. i enjoy it. thanks
